Last weeks Evening and Coach meets were fortunate to have lovely sunny weather and were attended by a wide selection of the clubs members and guests from a six month old baby to our very active retirees!

Congratulations to the club members who recently completed Mt. Elbrus's, Russia's highest peak and some say the highest in Europe depending on how the Caucasus are distributed between Europe and Asia.

Eight club members successfully completed the Welsh 3000 challenge last week and so congrats to them.

Also thanks to the everyone who supported them and to Lesley and Andy for organising it.

Please note that this meet has been changed to The Brecon Beacons and will not now clash with England being in the World Cup final!

The July meet will begin from the Navigation Inn, Greensforge,Mile Flat, Wall Heath, near Kingswinford (DY6 0AH) Grid Ref 862886 at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start.

The route is ‘out-and back’ allowing all or a section of the walk to be covered. Total distance is approx 4 miles. It takes in canal towpath, farmland rights of way and Himley Plantation. Managed by the woodland trust this is one of the few natural woodland areas of the region. It would also be possible to park and meet us at the woodland. Food is available and orders can be taken before setting off. This is advisable since in good weather the pub can get very busy. Typical main meals; 14oz Gammon £7.95, Fish Chips £6.50,Vegetarian Dishes £6.50 also, Sandwiches and Jacket Potatoes,Enville and other ales.

Good luck to the club members attempting this next Saturday. I hope that weather is not too hot to give you the best chance to do it.

I'm sure that everyone including the club members supporting the attempt will have a good time. Thanks to those members who are providing support and I enjoy the barbie and the beers on the Saturday night.

Thursday's evening meet and yesterday's coach meet were both a great success although the fantastic clear sunny day we had in Wales could not inspire England to victory over the USA!
